Adoption Timeline

I thought I should start keeping track of when we got things done for the adoption; paperwork,  social worker visits, and when things were submitted. I'll try to update this as we go along.

• February 24, 2013: submitted application to agency + $100 application fee
• February 26: received first packet of papers to fill out (contract to have this agency provide homestudy, etc)
• March 6: sent contact and checks- $1,500 homestudy fee + $450 large family assessment fee
• March 8: received second packet of papers (application for child placement and background check release forms, etc)
• March 17: submitted via email our child placement application for review
• March 26: child placement app reviewed and sent to agency, plus signature pages 
• April 2: received third packet of papers (paperwork to go over with the social worker, financial statements, paperwork for medical statement from doctor, info for fingerprinting, etc)
• April 23: mailed out 2 reference letters, and a few other forms . 
• April 29: Met our social worker, and she's great! She gave us some things to do such as print out directions to fire station/police station etc from our house to add to our file, and told us to type some information on who would be the kids guardian if something should happen to us.
• May 7: Appointment for physicals for the kids and myself (Rachel).
• May 15: Physical for Britt
• June 1: Second social worker visit
• June 18: Finger printing/background check for Rachel
• June 19: Posted fire evacuation plans on fridge along with emergency phone numbers.
• June 20: Fire inspection (passed! yay!)
• June 25: Mailing out financial statement, medical statements, fire inspection report.
• June-July: finish reading/summarizing lessons 3-12 of training + online course, and Britt's fingerprints.
• August: 3rd and final social worker meeting
• October: Completed home study, opened AdoptTogether fund, applied for Lifesong for Orphans grant and Show Hope grants, began fundraising.
• July 2014: Matched with Amos' birth mother.
• December: Fully funded our adoption expenses!
• December 30: Traveled to Florida to meet Amos.
• January 1, 2015: signed papers and took custody of Amos.
• January 9: Came home with Amos! 
• June 23, 2016: Finalized adoption of Amos.
